Earlier this month, two student startup teams were selected for the UvA Startup Challenge finals that will be held later this year. On May 10 & 11, student organizations SEFA (Economics & Business) and VIA (Computer Sciences) each hosted startup challenges in which student startups pitched in front of a professional jury. Winners SOOFOS and Stairway to Travel will meet at the finals to compete for a €5.000,- prize.
Six teams of Economics & Business students pitched during SEFA’s annual Let’s Get Started event on May 10 at the Zuiderkerk in Amsterdam. Besides a €1.000,- prize, offered by UvA Holding and ACE Venture Lab, the winning team was awarded a prize of €5.000,- worth of consultancy hours provided by Accenture. SOOFOS is an online marketplace to buy and sell (on- and offline) courses, workshops and training sessions. Find out all about it on their website!
The nexy day, on May 11, four teams of informatics’ students pitched at the VIA office during Science Park’s Next Startup event in the 904 building. The winning team are the inventors of an online search tool that provides customers with unique travel destinations based on indicated preferences. This lucky team also won a €1.000,- cash prize and will be competing against SOOFOS in the fall!
